Spinal Flow Technique:
- Release Spinal Blockages caused by Physical, Chemical and Emotional Stress
- Awaken Your Spinal Flow
- Restore Your Body’s Ability to Heal
The Spinal Flow Technique was developed by Chiropractor, Dr. Carli Axford, and is based on over 20 years of research, observation and clinical success. It combines her understanding of the spine, nervous system and Life Force Energy, into a simple method that harnesses the body’s innate ability to heal itself.
Unreleased physical, emotional and chemical stress can create misalignments in the spinal vertebrae, which creates pressure on the nerves, blood vessels and surrounding muscles. These blockages in the flow of information through the nervous system prevent the body from maintaining homeostasis, or regulating and repairing itself effectively.
Blockages result in symptoms of pain, illness and dis-ease and are linked to emotional distress and anxiety. The Spinal Flow Technique helps restore the flow of healing Life Force Energy by releasing the stress which has been created by these blockages and misalignments.
How the Spinal Flow Technique Supports Nervous System Healing
Your nervous system is the command center of your body, it regulates everything from your heartbeat to your emotions, digestion, sleep, and even how you process pain and stress. When the nervous system is dysregulated due to physical injury, chronic stress, trauma, or lifestyle factors it can lead to widespread dysfunction in the body and mind.
Chronic activation of the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) keeps the body in a state of high alert, flooding it with stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline.
Dysregulation of the Vagus nerve can also reduce the brain’s ability to modulate pain and inflammation.
Pain is not only a physical sensation, it is deeply influenced by the brain and nervous system. In conditions like fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and complex regional pain syndrome, the nervous system becomes dysregulated and sensitized, amplifying pain signals.
Mental health disorders like anxiety, depression, PTSD, and dissociation can also be rooted in a dysregulated nervous system.
Trauma research shows that early or repeated trauma can lock the body into a state of chronic hypervigilance or shutdown, impairing emotional regulation, memory, and mood. A good resource on this subject is the book by van der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score
When your spine is clear of blockages and your nervous system is regulated:
- Pain decreases
- Inflammation reduces
- Emotions stabilize
- Sleep patterns improve
- Energy returns
- Healing accelerates
What to expect during your Spinal Flow Treatment:
During your spinal flow session, you will lay fully clothed on your stomach on a massage table, with bolsters under your hips, while Jennifer makes contact with specific points, called access points, on your spine (sacrum/tail bone, cranium). The intention is to bring your brain’s awareness to blockages to allow them to be released, as well as move from survival states (fight, flight, freeze) back into a state of healing and flow. Spinal Flow treatments are very gentle and safe and there are no contraindications. For clients who are unable to lie face down, Spinal Flow can be provided side lying or in a chair.
How long are Spinal Flow treatments?
The Initial Spinal Flow Session is approximately an hour and includes a thorough posture and spine assessment to identify blockages, as well as a treatment.
Spinal Flow Sessions for Children under 10yrs old are 15 minutes and regular Follow Up Spinal Flow sessions for older children and adults are 30 mins.
Children often respond quickly, while adults with longstanding blockages can heal more slowly. Benefits can be achieved after the first session and are cumulative.
How often should I receive Spinal Flow treatments?
During your initial visit Jennifer will consult with you on your primary treatment goal and give you options to book future Spinal Flow care. Spinal Flow is so safe and gentle that you can book multiple appointments in a week or even in one day. Frequency depends on the severity of your condition. Once spinal health is restored, many clients enjoy regular spinal flow wellness care or maintenance which can help keep minor issues from becoming more serious.
