She will work closely with you to develop an understanding of what is going on in your body, signs and symptoms, what treatments do to support your health, and how to manage your health long term.

Naturopathic Medicine is used to provide a holistic approach to treating your health concerns. Addressing acute or chronic conditions, ideally without drugs or surgery, and helping empower you to take responsibility for your health with ease because you know what to do.

Naturopathic Medicine also focuses on preventing long term illnesses or genetic predispositions such as cancer, diabetes, dementia and heart disease.

Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Kaylee Alton, helps men and women overcome their symptoms, gain confidence in their health, so they can use it to reach their full potential. Dr. Kaylee is registered and in good standing with the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Ontario, the CAND and the OAND.

Equipped with expert hormone and gut health detective skills, Dr. Kaylee helps patients feel at ease in their gut health, understand (and fall in love with) their hormones and bodies. She has advanced training in chronic, complex digestive health and hormones, period problems, vaginal issues, period pain, PCOS, peri-menopause, and bioidentical hormone therapy.

The initial investment to work together with Dr. Kaylee Alton is a series of 3 sessions booked 4-6 weeks apart.

It costs $289 for the initial consultation and plan

$289 for the second consultation (nutrition and lifestyle review, lab test requisition)

$229 for your third consultation, (lab review / treatment plan)

By the end of your third visit, within the first 3-4 months of working together, she aims to have you feeling improvement in your symptoms.

Follow-up consults are then scheduled every 2-4 months for accountability and checking in on milestones for your health.

Future frequency and duration of your ongoing work together is determined by the depth and complexity of your health and your goals.

Subsequent visits range in price from $149-$229.

Lab testing is recommended, with discussion, to properly assess your health issues. These labs are not OHIP covered. The cost of initial lab testing averages around $150 to $350, depending on your needs.

We will ask you to book your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd consults at the outset of your initial booking, as she has found this to be the key step to success for her patients, to capture their momentum to help their health.

Dr Kaylee does not provide direct billing and does require a credit-card on file to be used for payment for lab testing.

We do provide insurance receipts.

FAQs about Naturopathic Medicine

What can I expect in my first visit? 

During your first consult, Dr. Kaylee will complete a full health interview. The focus is on the order of priority of your health concerns with your goals and her recommendations in mind. This will be the time to share your story of your life, and events that have led up to you experiencing your health now, the way you do. Understanding your needs and lifestyle choices will help develop your personalized treatment plan.

Dr Kaylee will put together the initial stages of your treatment plan and, if needed, recommend lab testing. She uses Dynacare laboratories and will send you a lab order to download, print and bring to your nearest Dynacare lab location.

What to expect in your 2nd and 3rd visits

Your second naturopathic medicine consult will answer any questions you may have for clarification, consist of a more in-depth review of your nutrition and lifestyle habits, food literacy and readiness for change. Dr Kaylee utilises motivational interviewing to ensure you have the mindset to create the routine, habits and foundation on which to build your health. Your current treatment plan may be revised.

Your third naturopathic medicine consult will discuss your lab results and health milestones and how your treatment plan will support your goals. Dr Kaylee will provide follow-up expectations and ways to continue to support your daily maintenance of your treatment plan.

Does OHIP or Insurance cover Naturopathic Medicine? 

Naturopathic medicine consultations, lab testing, and any other charges are not covered by OHIP. They will usually be covered by your insurance plan or HSA. You need to check what your individual plan does cover as they differ and we cannot be expected to know the details.

How are Naturopathic Doctors trained?

Naturopathic doctors need a minimum of 3 years of university education with science prerequisites. This then allows them to apply for a 4 year accredited Naturopathic Medical School, a private medical school offering an undergraduate degree in naturopathic medicine.

Naturopathic doctors study advanced clinical science, health diagnostics including laboratory testing, naturopathic assessment and diagnosis, differential diagnosis, nutrition, hydrotherapy, physical medicine, herbal medicine, acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, motivational interviewing and lifestyle counseling.

A 1-year clinical internship is required as a part of their practical training.

Does naturopathic medicine work with my family doctor or nurse practitioner?

Absolutely. Naturopathic doctors are trained to work with your healthcare team, to provide a holistic and strategic approach to your care plan. Dr. Kaylee will send letters of communication, recommendations for treatment, prescription, testing and assessment as required.

Naturopathic doctors are trained to understand medication and supplement interactions and nutrient depletions. Safety is the key component of patient care.

You do not have to discontinue any medications, Dr Kaylee can work with you alongside these in order to improve your condition.
