Laura Thomas’s Journey Into the Mind-Body Connection

Laura’s curiosity in the connection between the mind & body began in university.  She intended to study English Literature and become a teacher but found herself more drawn to her elective courses in Philosophy & Psychology.

Still focused on teaching, Laura switched her major to Philosophy & Psychology. Here, she was able to learn more about the mind-body connection, and how our physical health is directly related to our inner perceptions of life’s experiences.

Laura Thomas began to understand how all our perceptions come from our belief systems, created in childhood.

Each perception triggers a corresponding emotion in the brain, which triggers a corresponding feeling in the body.  These “feelings” cause us to act in accordance with what we perceive to be our reality.  They also hold the power to make us sick; unresolved chronic negative feelings like anger and fear.

Or to make us healthy; emotions such as gratitude and joy).

Understanding this concept provided Laura with the insight to explore the ways in which each one of us can find and live our best lives.

In 1997, a colleague introduced Laura to yoga, where she discovered meditation, breath work, and movement.  These practices not only provided a way to strengthen her body but, more importantly, a way to settle and quiet her busy mind, and her feelings of anxiety and being overwhelmed.   

Following the birth of her first child in 2003, Laura became quite focused on ridding herself of some lingering hurts and resentments from the past. Her goal was the raising of her son with the best part of herself.

Laura Thomas and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

Shortly after becoming a mother, she discovered Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) – the practice of stimulating acupressure points while reciting affirmations directed toward healing an array of issues such as past traumas, physical pains, phobias, anxiety, anger, etc.

Laura saw the connection to acupuncture and other energy healing techniques dating back over 5000 years. It fascinated her that the wisdom of these ancient practices was becoming available to modern society.

She practiced EFT on her own chronic back pain and was astounded at the results.  The pain literally disappeared; what’s more, she felt an inner calmness she’d almost forgotten.

She began a deeper study of the technique, addressing issues in herself, her family, and her friends with great success.  Some effects were temporary, but some were permanent.  She understood that with further practice and skill more complicated issues could be permanently resolved.

In 2014, Laura attended training in Guelph and became an Accredited Certified EFT Practitioner with EFT International.

Hypnosis and Laura Thomas

Hypnosis had always been on Laura’s radar.  Like many people, she didn’t really understand what it entailed but knew that it was a powerful approach to resolving the many struggles that lay deep inside the subconscious part of the human mind.

In 2017, Laura travelled to Bowmanville, Ontario to study 5-PATH Advanced Hypnosis, and then started her own professional practice.

Since then, using 5-PATH hypnosis & EFT, Laura has assisted multiple clients to find complete relief from various issues ranging from weight loss, smoking cessation, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, compulsive gambling, depression, public speaking fears, phobias, to name just a few.

Hypnosis and EFT, when done correctly, are two powerful ways to effectively and permanently eliminate the problems that stand in the way of us living our best life.

2017:  National Guild of Hypnotists - (trainer:  Peggy Kelly Davies) Master Consulting Hypnotist of 5-PATH Advanced Hypnosis.

2017:  CCMBA (Complete Cellular Mind Body Alignment) course.
