Claudia Hoyos’ Intention

Claudia’s intention is to offer the best options for every person who comes to see her for treatment.

As a Manual Osteopath and yoga teacher she has learned to listen to the body, recognize the root of the ailment, and find the best avenue of treatment. She will help you to release tension, pain, and stress, to be more relaxed and feel less stressed. You will regain energy and balance once again.

Every time she sees a client she wants to give her best of the best from her toolbox and techniques based on experience, training and passion for helping others.

She firmly believes that the culprits of aches, pains, and misalignments can sneak in and make your life complicated. Manual Osteopathy brings a variety of gentle techniques to not only manage the pain, but also to find the root cause of it once and for all.

Claudia’s Journey

Claudia Hoyos was born and raised in Colombia, South America. She had a quiet and close-to-nature upbringing, enjoying hiking and camping together with swimming as her favourite sport and her passion.

As she and her siblings prepared to go to University her family moved to a bigger city for better educational opportunities. She decided to enrol in one of the local Universities to study economics. This career brought her to navigate the corporate world in the field of finances.

Later on, looking for a more rewarding career path she worked as an assistant for a female Senate Representative. She admired this representative’s work in writing the law that created the Minister of Environment in Colombia.

Coming to Canada

Claudia Hoyos moved to Canada with her spouse seeking further education for both of them. Soon enough, she wanted an even more rewarding path. One that brought her back to her roots and memories of spending time with Grandma and learning the life sciences, as grandma used to call Yoga, meditation and Ayurveda.

In Ottawa, Claudia was accepted into a sponsored program provided by a Multicultural Health Coalition to train as Group Fitness leader. She volunteered, and later on worked, teaching fitness for immigrant and low income women in Ottawa. In addition, she enrolled in a Leisure and Recreation Program, and pursued training as a Hatha Yoga Teacher, all of which allowed her to continue with her fitness passion and to re-discover how much she loved helping others.

Following her graduation from the Recreation and Leisure program she worked for Long-term care and private seniors establishments in the area of Leisure and Recreation. She managed the programming for the special care units. She loved it!!

Her life path brought her to become a mother, a valuable time that she has been embracing to the fullest. She opened up her own home daycare and studied Early Childhood Education to provide the most up-to-date program and the best care for the little ones.

Yoga, Ayurveda and Meditation have been the lifestyle for her and her family. She has been teaching since she got her first certification more than 18 years ago.

Claudia Hoyos, Osteopathic Manual Practitioner

Every time she stepped on the mat or taught a class, Claudia became more amazed by the power of the body to heal, and how the mind and thoughts have a lot to do with the way we are with ourselves and others. This path brought her to deepen her studies and choose a  therapy with a deeper emphasis on a gentle hands-on approach that, together with Yoga, she could combine to provide complete holistic care.

Manual Osteopathy offered that approach. She successfully completed a course of study at the National Academy of Osteopathy in Toronto and is registered with ACMA. Please note: Blue Cross and Canada Life do not currently cover this licence.

Outside of Work

Claudia believes that her most important role in life is being a mother and a house holder. However, this does not impede her ability and freedom to enjoy hobbies like cooking, baking, cross country and downhill skiing, skating, running and, her favourite of them all, speed kayaking.

Claudia is looking forward to offering the best of her knowledge and training every time you see her!
