We get many questions regarding Insurance and Direct Billing. Our services are not covered on OHIP, however, we do work with numerous health insurance providers.
These are answers to just a few of the most frequent questions.
What services does my insurance cover?
This is totally dependent on your individual plan. Most plans DO cover Massage Therapy, Chiropractic, Acupuncture and Osteopathy. Some cover Nurse Practitioner and Registered Psychotherapist (this is different to Psychologist or Psychiatrist).
Please Note: Federal Government plan with Sunlife: Acupuncture is only covered when provided by a medical doctor. None of our providers are MDs.
It is your responsibility to check the details of your plan as they do vary. It is not possible for us to know what your individual plan will cover.
Will my insurance pay the whole cost?
Some do, some do not. You may have a limit on each claim, a deductible, a maximum for the year or your plan may only pay a percentage of each claim. You need to check your plan details.
Do I need a prescription to claim for treatments?
Again, some plans require this, some do not. Please check the details of your plan. It is not unusual to need a prescription for massage therapy. For example, this is the case for the Federal Government Sunlife plan.
Insurance and direct billing at Complete Wellbeing
Except in a few circumstances we ask that you pay for your treatment at the time of your visit. We will then submit the claim to your insurance on your behalf. All you have to do is watch your bank to see the money arrive, usually within a few days of us submitting.
We are currently unable to bill to Sunlife. You will need to submit this yourself.
In order for us to bill your insurance you will need to fill out a Benefit Assignment Form. We will email this to you and it can be completed online.
